U Comment I Follow – The Do Follow Movement

U Comment I Follow

U Comment I Follow

There has been a movement going around the blogosphere for sometime about the use of “No Follow” and “Do Follow” comment links.

WordPress by default is setup with a No Follow comment system.  Meaning you don’t get Google link love for commenting on blogs and linking back to your site.  I believe the reason for this was to cut back on comment spam. But by using anti-spam plugins and moderating comments,  spam can pretty much be avoided.

Due to the default No Follow settings in WordPress; Do Follow Directories and Do Follow Blog Search sites are becoming more and more popular. These sites are focused on finding Do Follow blogs that make it worth taking the time to comment.

I know I rarely feel compelled to leave a comment on a blog that isn’t do follow. But I’m very willing to comment on a blog that promotes do follow.

My Thoughts (for what its worth):

Disclaimer: *I am no SEO expert by any means, so don’t take this as gospel.*

If your visitors are good enough to come to your blog and take the time to comment; my view is let them have a little link love for their time.  Its not like my blog is a Page Rank 8 or anything anyway.

Every comment that a post gets is a good thing.  Who knows; Maybe the good outwieghts the bad.

Maybe  and I say maybe, Google thinks with all that commenting, your blog is the shiznit and will rank it higher than the stingy blog owner that doesn’t have any comments because he/she is scared of leaking a little link juice.

So to make a long story short: Make your Blog a “DO FOLLOW” by installing a plug-in like No Follow Free.  You could even take it one step further and add a CommentLuv to really spread some love to your visitors.
